Wild Flag: OF SORTS OF SORTS OF SORTS

July 18, 2011
Portland/Washington D.C.'s Wild Flag is Carrie Brownstein, Mary Timony, Rebecca Cole and Janet Weiss. If those names sound familiar, you used to listen to either Helium, Sleater-Kinney, Quasi, The Minders, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, or, I don't know, lots and lots of other bands those four women have been in throughout their professional careers.

So yes, Wild Flag is a super group (OF SORTS OF SORTS OF SORTS SORTS SORTS!). And these super people make music that's rockin' and kind of punk and definitely poppy and just overall sort of jubilant. Wild Flag is like... a BAND, man. That's all. They're just A BAND.

Go see Wild Flag not for what their impressive members have done previously, but for what this band is doing presently. And what they're doing presently is just getting the ROCK out. (I have no idea what's going on with my CAPS LOCK button these days... maybe since Carrie and Mary and Rebecca and Janet are so super they can fix computer keys, too?).

Anyway, be sure to see Wild Flag live and get the band's debut album on some label called Merge Records. Merge? Never heard of 'em. SORTS SORTS SORTS.

Wild Flag plays Metro, on Thursday, April 5th.
