((Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart)) Band Profile and Upcoming Chicago Concerts - Oh My Rockness

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Written by Patrick McNamara

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, an up-and-coming songwriter from Austria, is further proof that we're truly living in the golden age of the Emo Rival. His songs (primarily driven by keys and strings and things) soar to heights only the boldest eagles and angels dare fly. I don't care if this is Fourth Wave. Sunny Day Real Estate never did this.

While still relatively unknown outside Vienna, Mozart has received some positive press from leading alternative music blogs in the US this summer for his remarkable instrumental covers of the American classics “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and “Baa Baa Black Sheep" and “The Alphabet Song." In addition to these 3 online hits, Mozart has also written 41 symphonies, 68 complete works of a similar type, and countless demos self-released on Bandcamp.

Mozart has yet to play a show on these shores but he regularly plays packed house parties, royal courts, and DIY churches throughout Europe. However, this may change soon. I have heard from VERY credible insider Music Industry sources that Mozart is officially going to be invited to play CMJ this fall. The festival committee's fears concerning the size of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's draw outside his local market were soothed and at this point it's just a matter of paperwork.

Below is a video Mozart recently posted to YouTube. It consists of 1 hour and 56 minutes of his jams. He titles the video “The Best of Mozart" which may be a tad presumptuous but I withhold judgement. Go ahead and give it a stream.

And then consider seeing Mozart play in person this fall. Supposedly, he switches from piano to violin to harpsichord to clavier effortlessly - often while also conducting his touring band of 50 odd musicians. I'd pay the $8 - $15 bucks to see that. Wouldn't you?
