Besides the unfortunate asterisk at the end of their name, Stellastarr* is a fine band to be filed under guilty pleasure. People call these guys "art rock" but frankly I have no idea what that means. Does that mean they paint and play at the same time?
Imagine if The Wedding Present did the soundtrack to an 80's John Hughes film. Now you're on the right track to becoming a Stellastarr*. Formed while attending a highly regarded Brooklyn art school, you can just call these guys the Pratt Pack.
If you're looking for mysterious, cryptic bands that try to unearth life's deep meanings, Stellastarr* isn't for you. Their pond doesn't run too deep. But they're hip, they're catchy and they have great hooks. And sometimes that's all you need.
