((Obliterations)) Band Profile and Upcoming Chicago Concerts - Oh My Rockness

Written by Patrick McNamara

L.A.’s Obliterations are a band of four (shouter Sam + shredder Stephen + bass blaster Austin + Flo on the thunder flicks) that would like to pummel your BODY with their brutal sludge metal. They also want to finish you off with some melodic riffs that will melt your FACE. You should let let them do that. Don't worry. It's cool. This musical violence is the fun kind. This band is like lollipops and ice cream on another otherwise ordinary day in Hell.

Did you know this band features people who have been in other bands before? It's totally true. I would not bullshit you. These bands include Black Mountain + Pink Mountaintops + a bunch more whose names have nothing to do with, well, you know, big rocks or whatever. As far as Obliterations’ influences are concerned, according to their Facebook “About Us” page (my most trusted research source after Wikipedia), all members claim to love Black Sabbath and Black Flag. I like those two bands too. I should have been in this band. This should have been me.

As of this writing (11:29 AM in the Year of I’m Not Telling You) the band has released two EPs. Both are very painful and destructive and really great. And I’ll tell you what I’m gonna do. I’m going to make it so you can stream not one but BOTH of those EPs directly below this dynamic digital content. Why two? Because I try harder, that's why. Stand out tracks include “Pay To Live” + “Can’t Afford To Die” + “Kick Against The Pricks” + “Twisted & Pissed.” Those songs are goddamn delights.

(Warning: if you play either EP really loud you’re going to cause a kind of hush all over the world tonight because we’re all going to be dead. So keep it down, will you? And if not, oh well, it was a good run. At least we all went out in the glorious blaze of our own melted faces.)

Enjoy!
