BAND WE LIKE: SLUICE ((cozy smog-y indie))
((Melpo Mene)) Band Profile and Upcoming Chicago Concerts - Oh My Rockness
Melpo Mene
Imagine if Elliott Smith had a little more pep in his step, was a little more electric, and was from Sweden. Done imagining? Oh, sorry... ok, now are you done imagining? Good. Your beautiful brain just assessed Melpo Mene, the project of stellar Scandinavian singer/songwriter Erik Mattiason.
This young fellow and his backing band are pretty much unknown on these shores, but they already have written a legitimate hit in "I Adore You." Ok, not a hit in the traditional "I've sold lots and lots of records because of this" sense. But more of a hit in the "This song is pretty damn catchy and I think lots of people will like it if they just listened to it" sense.
And hey, I forgot to mention that Mattiason is quite a good electric guitar player too. You remember how Jeff Buckley prettily played "Hallelujah?" Mattiason kind of plays like that. A nice pop band sure to get bigger.
