((The Shilohs)) Band Profile and Upcoming Chicago Concerts - Oh My Rockness

Vancouver’s The Shilohs is a supremely breezy pop band that will make you want to put a flower in your hair and go dance with the dolphins somewhere (you would need to live near an aquarium with exceptional public access to do this, probably). Or, hell man, just listen to this on your couch while you consider the meaning behind the cracks in your ceiling. Whatever you want to do with this. Because this is chill music for people who like to chill.

Imagine if Nico were a guy and fronted a group made up of some members of Real Estate + The Byrds + Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young + Big Star (remember: must have imagination hat on to play this game) and they then get asked to contribute a song to the next Wes Anderson movie that's rich with wistful tenderness and Mono No Aware tendencies (rough translation of the Japanese: the pathos of things). The Shilohs are a little bit like that. But that’s just me pretending via my ears. To you, maybe The Shilohs sound just like Pantera or Dean Martin or something. Whatevs. All good. Nothing matters. Everything does.

Below is a beauty of a song called “English Roads.” It’s from a 7” put out by the record label New Images. You might recall that I mentioned Real Estate earlier. If you don’t, no big deal, you can just scroll up or something. New Images is run by Matt Mondanile of Ducktails (uhhh-whee-oooh!).... and Real Estate.

You see? It all comes full circle with these Band We Like profiles. Just as the seasons go ‘round and ‘round and our pink ponies go up and down as we all slowly ride around the carousel of time. Yeah, man. Play this and consider THAT, Jack.

Final thought: listen to this song and then listen to “All I Want is You” by U2. Just saying.
