((Sahara Hotnights)) Band Profile and Upcoming Chicago Concerts - Oh My Rockness

Before Franz Ferdinand, before The Killers and before The Vines, there were Sahara Hotnights. These Swedes play 70's-inspired punk jams, influenced by The Ramones, The Clash and Blondie, with a sexy beat. They formed as mere teenyboppers in 1996 and quickly became a European underground sensation. Seven years later, with their sound finally catching up to the rest of the world, they're steps away from being an overground (if that's not a word, it should be) sensation.

Their latest release, Kiss & Tell is on RCA, a major label that's been desperate to tap into anything hip lately. It may be a little glossier than their old raw punk sound, but it's just as seductive and hip-shakingly friendly. Sahara Hotnights may not change the world, but you don't need them to. They know it's only rock and roll.
