((Liechtenstein)) Band Profile and Upcoming Chicago Concerts - Oh My Rockness

Sweden's Liechenstein remind us of Brooklyn's Vivian Girls. You know, kind of that doo-wop meets shoegaze thing? But Liechtenstein probably puts a little more emphasis on the pop, while Vivian Girls opt for something that sounds a little more punk.

Anyway, these three ladies (Naemi on bass! Renee on guitars! Elin on drums! All on vocals!) write bouncy, melodious songs that have a fair amount of pep in their step. But though there's plenty of sunny pop going on, there's something that's just a touch (albeit a slight touch) on the gloomy side too.

Maybe it's just the way they like to be recorded. Three part harmonies seemingly sung into a soup can has always sounded a tad dreary to me. Nevertheless, Liechtenstein will have an album out Stateside on Slumberland records (The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Crystal Stilts, Cause Co-Motion!) and they'll undoubtedly tour a lot around its release too. So check them out; especially if you like, errr, Vivian Girls.
