Male Bonding BRING IT!

Is Male Bonding the missing link? Are they the band that will finally fill that small hole in my lo-fi punk garage heart? Don't get me wrong, I'm down with the lo-fi punk garage. I get it, I rock it, I'm into it. But often it just leaves me with something... missing. It has 90% of my heart, but not 100%. And I've been on a seemingly endless quest to find that band that can give me that extra 10% and make my heart whole. Now, maybe I'm just really a pop-head when it's all said and done. Maybe I just want a hint more of pretty melodies with my lo-fi punk garage. Maybe that's just me. That's my issue. Maybe that's why it's so hard to find. But man, after listening to London's Male Bonding, I think this might be that band that gives me that extra 10%. The band I need to feel complete. The band I need to feel overly dramatic. Male Bonding has got all the good stuff of the good lo-fi, garage and punk. You know, the noise, the distortion, the energy, the shitty amplifiers. But with this band, I hear a most wondrous other sound floating around those other sounds too: melody. Wonderful, sweet, pretty melody! That's what I've been looking for! Apparently that's what Sub Pop's been looking for too, because they recently signed them. That's what Vivian Girls and Dum Dum Girls and The Soft Pack have been looking for too, otherwise why would they tour with them? Melody, my lo-fi garage punk friends. Melody.
