There's not much I have in common with 15 year-old girls. I'm not down with their "hip" speak and the latest "fashions" from the "mall." But one thing the 15 year-old girls and I share is a mutual appreciation for Jimmy Eat World.

Sure, Jimmy Eat World writes songs with such deep subject matter as gearing up for the big concert by putting up show flyers and the very original insight that with time everything will be just fine. And yes, their new single is called "Pain." But don't blame them that they don't spew rocket science. They're just a good, harmless pop band.

I guess Jimmy Eat World could be classified as a guilty pleasure even though I don't feel that guilty about songs with great hooks, harmonies and choruses. If it makes you emo kids feel better, think of them as what Christie Front Drive would've sounded like with major label support. Jimmy Eat World is at their best when they sing slower, prettier songs. Things get a little sticky when they try a little too hard to "rock out." Their talent is undeniable and I'll be the first to admit that their cheesy harmonies get me every time. I like Jimmy Eat World, dammit. And Blink-182 for that matter!
