Oh My Rockness

Chicago's Sweet Cobra rock the blazingly intense screamo that sounds like an awesomely annihilating cross between the best of Mastodon, Jesu and Torche, with some Motorhead thrown in for good measure. This is a heavy and sludgy bass-driven display with a nice mixture of guttural metal riffs sprinkled throughout the band's relentless songs.

Singer Tim Remis seems one-step closer to permanent vocal-chord paralysis with every one of his booming shrieks. I hope that guy uses his diaphragm. Sweet Cobra have recently played shows with Pelican, Russian Circles and American Heritage. If you like any/all of those bands, you'll like Sweet Cobra.
