Oh My Rockness

British Columbia's Lightning Dust are a somber folk-ish duo that features Amber Webber and Joshua Wells, both members of the experimental space-psych collective Black Mountain. Webber's hauntingly warbled vibrato carries most of these moody, minimalist songs to some dark places (Wells sings sometimes, too).

You know you're not exactly in for a happy-go-lucky listen when the only accompaniment to Webber's soft laments is Wells' lonely organ or piano. If your heart feels heavy and you need a good hour of melancholic music to connect with your malaise, listen to Lightning Dust. Just don't stay in that dark place for too long. (Perhaps you can re-awaken from your somber slumber with a little Lightning Bolt?)
